Oscar Avila

Primary C Co-Director

Oscar Avila, Primary Classroom Co-Director in a bilingual classroom,was born in Guatemala and completed his Music Education degree at the Jesus Maria Alvarado Escuela Normale before moving to the U.S. in 2003. Before joining MSC in January 2009 he worked as music teacher and Director of Musicians at the Bethel Worship Center in Camden. Sr. Coca is certified in the Orff music method and is implementing it at MSC. He has completed his certification training through the Institute for Guided Studies at the Early Childhood level

Karen Tolliver

Director of Education & Primary C Co-Director

Karen Tolliver, Director of Education, Primary C Co-director and Summer Director, is a native of Camden, SC. She was certified by MEPI in 2006 as Classroom Director of Early Childhood Education. Karen received her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Central Carolina Technical College in 2014. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from National Lewis University and a South Carolina teaching license. Karen enjoys spending time with her family, singing and listening to music.

Rita Holt

Primary A Director

Rita Bernal came to the U.S. from the Philippines as a cultural exchange teacher last September. Prior to coming to MSC she briefly worked at Kelly Edwards Elementary School as a Fourth Grade Teacher.Rita holds a Master of Arts in Education major in Montessori Education at the University of San Carlos, Cebu City, Philippines in 2007. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education at St. Peters College of Ormoc City, Philippines in 1993 and passed the Philippine Board Examination for Teachers in the same year. Passionate about teaching young children, she pursued to study further and take Montessori Education in the graduate school. She holds a South Carolina teaching license.After graduating from college, she taught Pre-K at a local traditional school and left to work as an early childhood teacher at San Agustin Schoolyard Montessori, Inc. for 10 years. She later taught Lower Elementary at St. Therese The Little Flower
Montessori Center until 2019.Rita is also involved in socio-civic activities and was a volunteer teacher of Mercy Malaysia, teaching children affected by Typhoon Haiyan that hit her city in November 2013. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as mountain climbing and river trekking and is a recipient of Basic Mountaineering Certificate issued in the Philippines.

Fazeia Sagely

Primary A Assistant

Fazeia Sagely born and raised in Guyana, completed her education in Guyana and also is a trained Literacy Educator. Got married to an American and before moving to the U.S.A in the year 2015 she taught for four years at an Elementary School with an emphasis on improving the quality of education and increase in literacy and numeracy. Fazeia is now employed at the Montessori School as a Primary Assistant and completed the IGS Montessori Paraprofessional Course. She is a patient, humble, caring individual and loves working with children and looking forward to a great year as a classroom Assistant Teacher.
